Consensus
Academic search engine that summarises what peer-reviewed studies say
Visit Consensus (opens in a new tab)Consensus is a search engine for scientific literature. You ask a question in plain language and it searches peer-reviewed papers, then writes a cited summary of what the research shows, with links back to the individual studies. Longer “deep review” reports pull many papers together into a literature-review style overview.
It is useful for students, academics, clinicians and curious readers who want evidence from published studies rather than general web pages. As with any AI summary, its answers are a starting point; reading the cited papers is still necessary before relying on a conclusion.
The free plan keeps basic paper search plus a small monthly allowance of AI answers and deep reviews. Pro ($20/month, less on annual billing) removes the cap on AI answers and includes a monthly quota of API and MCP calls; a higher Deep tier targets frequent literature reviews. Discounts are offered to students, faculty and some clinicians.
