Grammarly

Writing assistant that checks grammar, clarity and tone wherever you type

Visit Grammarly (opens in a new tab)

Grammarly checks your writing as you type, flagging spelling, grammar and punctuation errors and suggesting clearer or more concise wording. It runs as a browser extension, desktop app and mobile keyboard, so suggestions appear in email, documents and chat apps rather than in a separate editor. It also has AI features for drafting, rewriting and adjusting tone.

It is most useful for people who write a lot in English at work or school and want a second pair of eyes on everyday text. It is less suited to long-form creative writing, where a dedicated fiction tool fits better.

The free plan covers core corrections and a small monthly allowance of AI prompts. Pro costs $12 a month when billed annually ($30 month to month), comes with a 7-day free trial, and adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustments and more AI usage. Enterprise pricing is by quote.
